EW Nutrition launches Ventar D for gut health

German animal nutrition company EW Nutrition has launched its gut health modifier, Ventar D, a proprietary blend of phytomolecules formulated to support gut health. On top of its antimicrobial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory benefits, its original encapsulation delivers optimal thermal stability, according to the company.

Anpario launches Optomega Algae

Anpario has launched a new microalgae-derived omega-3 fatty acid supplement, Optomega Algae powder, and is targeted at breeding animals and producers supplying enriched meat, milk and eggs containing higher levels of omega-3 fatty acids. Waste sugarcane is used as an energy source to power the production facility.

Agrifirm presents new industrial unit in Brazil

The Royal Agrifirm Group has presented its new industrial unit in the city of Maripá, Paraná state in Brazil. This unit will be responsible for the production of functional feed ingredients for the Agrimprove line and will also produce new functional ingredients for animal nutrition. Together with another plant in Itupeva, São Paulo state, the company now has 5,000 m2 of built-up area in Brazil.

DSM opens analytical lab at Biomin Research Centre

Royal DSM has opened its new Analytical Center of Excellence in Tulln, Lower Austria. The facility consists of 200m² of new laboratory space and complements the existing R&D facilities on site at the Biomin Research Center. Scientists will use tools to conduct analyses of the nutritional content of animal feed, premixes and eggs.

Veos Ibérica opens Spanish facility

Spanish Animal nutrition company Veos Group has announced that the new protein factory plant in Monzón, Aragón, Spain, is now up and running. The new plant in is the most modern plant of the group and is designed for further expansion. The company produces animal proteins such as plasma, haemoglobin, egg powder and collagens for the food, feed, pet food and parapharmaceutical industry.

Nuqo partners with Austrian university

Animal nutrition company Nuqo and the Center of Excellence Food Technology and Nutrition from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria have announced to collaborate to advance research in the biochemistry of phytogenics and phycogenics (metabolites from plants and seaweeds). Ultimate aim is to develop potential technologies for animal nutrition and health.

Feed Your Brain seminars return to Germany

Hamlet Protein has re-launched its Feed Your Brain seminars in Germany. One session focused specifically on nutrition and health challenges in swine and ruminants (piglets and calves) and included discussions on trace minerals, the development of China’s pork industry, and piglet gut health.

Schippers Group opens new HQ

Mid-October, the Netherlands-based Schippers Group celebrated the opening of a brand new headquarters in Hapert, North Brabant province. The one-stop-shop for pig producers, which has been specialising in biosecurity solutions, invested in new R&D facilities, offices and distribution facilities.

Hotraco Agri open Moscow branch

To better serve various customers in Russia, the Dutch Hotraco Group opened an office in Moscow. The company’s core business is the regulation, control and monitoring of animal housing processes for the pig, poultry and other livestock farming sectors.

Elanco seminar: Transition away from zinc oxide

A recent Elanco seminar in the United Kingdom highlighted the need for producers to implement alternative post-weaning diarrhoea management strategies to avoid pig health and performance plummeting once zinc oxide is removed. Options for managing post-weaning diarrhoea were discussed, which included the company’s vaccine Coliprotec. Speakers included Faye Murch, Dr Francesc Molist, Dr Eric Nadeau and veterinarian Daniel Parker.

Weda offers PVC pens in wooden look

German pig equipment company Weda Dammann & Westerkamp now offers its hygienic pen walls and modules in a natural wooden look. According to the company, these new plastic boards offer the highest hygiene standards, are easy to assemble and are UV-resistant.

Weda also announced to take over the Danish company W. Domino in October 2021. W. Domino is based in Ølholm near Vejle, employs 23 people and specialises in the manufacture of automatic feeders, sorting systems and manure removal.

Maple Leaf opens Bacon Centre of Excellence

Canadian meatpacker Maple Leaf Foods has completed the construction of a US$ 182-million expansion to its prepared meats plant in Winnipeg, MN, which will bolster bacon production capacity. The so-called ‘Bacon Centre of Excellence’ isn’t operational just yet but production will begin over the coming months.

Weltec Biopower takes over operations of AD Agro

The operations of biogas plant manufacturer, AD Agro, have continued under the umbrella of the Weltec Biopower Group in Germany. Through the merger, the companies establish synergies in the entire value chain of biogas and biomethane.

Choice Genetics flies pigs to China

Genetics company Choice has exported grandparent (GP) and great-grandparent (GGP) M3 Large White boars and gilts as well as M6 Landrace boars from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in France to Narita Airport in Japan to assist their Japanese clients to renew their herds.

CP Foods commits to support climate initiatives

Thai agribusinesss Charoen Pokphand Foods has committed to prevent and mitigate climate change impacts at the Global Compact Network Thailand Annual Forum 2021. The company aims to be a carbon neutral organisation in line with its zero-emission target in 2030.

Over 4,000 participants for V-Connect Asia

This first edition of V-Connect Asia, a digital B2B networking event for Asia’s feed to food industry, was held 22-24 September. The event registered over 4,000 participants of which 565 exhibiting profiles represented 240 suppliers. Some 22 sessions were held by 67 expert speakers. The event was hosted by VIV.

AveSui América Latina 2022 dates announced

AveSui América Latina, the Latin American trade fair for poultry, swine, fish and dairy, announced the dates of its 21^st edition. The edition in person will be held from 26-28 April 2022 in Medianeira, Paraná state, Brazil.
