After first postponing the International Pig Veterinary Society (IPVS) 2020 congress, it is now cancelled altogether.

The IPVS2020 Organisation Committee, together with its main partners, announced that the uncertainties and ongoing risks of the corona virus pandemic forced them to take this hard decision. The organisation states: “It was a difficult decision, but necessary. We will always cherish the health and safety of all involved.”

The cancellation of the most important event of world swine industry, in the city of Rio de Janeiro comes at a time when the corona virus is still far from being under control. Earlier this year, in March 2020, the IPVS organisation analysed the global impact caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and following the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO) and health authorities in Brazil, and took the decision to postpone the event to November. Current knowledge led to the cancellation.

The event will now be held from 21 through 24 of June, 2022.

We are looking after the health and well-being of all those involved: participants, sponsors and supporters and sympathising with so many families who were left helpless by the loss of loved ones. We have passed through hard moments, still hoping that all will be well soon.’’ – IPVS
