The second webinar in the ‘Piglet Livability’ series, organised by Pig Progress and Cargill Animal Nutrition, zoomed in on the importance of transition feeding for gestating sows.

Increasingly, it is becoming clear what the importance is of sow nutrition in order to get healthy litters of offspring. Feeding sows the correct rations is easier said than done. Especially during the transition from gestation through parturition to lactation, so many things change that only a very targeted diet can comply with a sow’s needs.

Transition feeding for sows

It isn’t impossible – and how to do that was a key discussion at the webinar which revolved around the presentation of Dr Marc Decoux, global technology leader, swine, at Cargill Animal Nutrition.

The webinar on piglet livability and sow transition feeding can be reviewed at any time against no extra cost following the link.

The first webinar can also still be accessed online. In that webinar, Dr Decoux delved deeper into the concept of ‘piglet livability’ and identified critical moments in a sow’s production cycle with regard to piglet livability.
