New approach VIV China brings in 13,874 visitors

VIV China has once again profiled itself as an international platform for products, knowledge and technology for the Chinese animal protein production industry.

Following many positive reactions to the event, project manager Ruwan Berculo concludes that the new concept is a success and can act as a blueprint for the next exhibition. The next VIV China is planned for 2014, from 23-25 September. “A compact, high-quality exhibition with a high visitor level, many international delegations, people from emerging economies and a Chinese business audience specifically attracted by innovations,” Berculo summarised.

“The enthusiasm and the interest have reinforced our idea that this is what the animal protein industry in China needs. With very well-attended congresses, seminars and receptions parallel to the exhibition, we created a network meeting that counts. Moreover, the atmosphere was great. The top and sub-top of the industry have attended; so 13,874 visitors is a high score.”

VIV China received delegations from the Middle East, Russia and South East Asia, among others. The exhibitors were full of praise about the new approach. According to Ruwan Berculo, for Chinese exhibitors, the exhibition was the perfect method to present themselves to the world. In the words of president Jos Ramekers it was a very successful exhibition, judging by the many contacts established with Chinese interested parties. On behalf of the Product Board Animal Feed, Tjeerd den Hollander said: “The VIV-summit was a very successful exposure for our project for comparing the feed import legislation of China and the EU. As a result of the summit we received lots of positive comments and reflection on our project, which gave us useful information for the finalisation of the project.”

More positive reactions about the International China Summit followed, including from Jeroen Leffelaar, Global Head Animal Protein at Rabobank: “The strong attendance at the International China Summit proved once again that Chinese professionals in animal protein production are very committed to being updated on trends and developments in their industry. In co-operation with VIV, we created an excellent opportunity to share our visions with these valuable relations.”

The first edition of the International China Summit, on Saturday preceding the exhibition, was attended by 266 delegates. The parallel seminars on this day as well as the Closing Plenary Conference were also extremely popular and attracted large audiences.

In addition to the International China Summit, the Food Safety Poultry Forum on Friday September 21 was also well-attended.

The last congress was organised by the Chinese Association of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (CAAV) on the second exhibition day in the NCIEC. The Beijing International Breeding Pig Industry Development Symposium attracted 300 Chinese and international delegates. Initiator Mr Machuang, Director International Affairs at CAAV, looks back on this success with great pleasure.

Exhibitors too, were pleased
The exhibitors at the exhibition itself were full of praise as well.

Richmond Hess of the British Diamond Engineering was “overwhelmed by the response to our stand. We believe that the VIV China Exhibition has helped the marketing of our Evolution Automated Chick Vaccinator and Automist Spray Vaccinators exponentially.”

On behalf of German exhibitor Salmet, Sang-Hun Lee said that, thanks to VIV, they have experienced the enormous potential of China as a poultry production country.

Emmanuel Pollet of UbiFrance said in a reaction that the French are unanimously satisfied with VIV China. “Not bad for an appointment on the first day for everyone, good crowd. Visitors, good organisation and good promotion before the fair.”

Jan-Peter van Ferneij, who spoke on behalf of UbiFrance at the International China Summit, shared this opinion. “Nice accommodation, international professional public.”

After attending VIV three times, Patent Co. is already preparing for VIV Asia in Thailand in 2013. “Our experience exceeds our expectations, as this was the first time we presented Patent Co. products in China. We were impressed with the choice of exhibitors, and the number of visitors we had at our booth. Contacts we made were excellent, and they make us optimistic regarding the expansion of Patent Co. business in South East Asia,” says Milinko Canovic.

There was much interest in ‘Feed to Meat’, VIV’s tried and tested formula. Motomi Yang of eFeedLink Pte Ltd speaks highly of both the exhibition and the congresses: “VIV China is a professional Feed to Meat trading platform organised with international standards and appreciated by Chinese and international visitors alike. The International China Summit sets the benchmark for conferences, with well-organised and enriching sessions for both Chinese and international attendees.”

Jo du Toit of Technical Systems from Cape Town agrees: “VIV China is vital for interaction with old and new customers especially for building and strengthening relationships. VIV China remains an absolute must trade show, for any company that wants to keep up with market conditions. We thank all our customers and visitors whom visited our booth and we are honoured to be part of the VIV success.”

Ruwan Berculo says that VIV China in its present form can no longer be seen as just an exhibition: “VIV is a knowledge and trading platform, where we – as a partner of the industry – present a complete range of network opportunities. This edition of VIV China has proven that we are on the right track.”
